HEROIC college football fans saved a stray cat from plummeting to the ground by using an American flag to break its fall.
During a game between the University of Miami and Appalachian State, a cat was spotted climbing the upper deck of Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

The cat clings desperately to the stadium drape as it turns and twists high above the horrified spectators below.
The cat desperately claws its way back to safety, clinging to the stadium’s edge with a single claw.
Seconds later, the cat loses its grip and plunges into the wailing crowd below after failing to grasp the outstretched arms of potential saviors above.
The cat plummeted before spectators’ eyes, terrified them in the hospitality boxes in the stadium.
A group of quick-thinking fans, however, had prepared themselves with the Stars and Stripes flag to cushion the feline’s fall as it lost its shaky grip in the pandemonium.
The fans quickly unfurled their flag just in time to break the cat’s fall as it plummeted towards the seats below.
“It hung there for a little while with its two front paws, then one paw, then I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s coming soon’,” said Craig Cromer, who brings an American flag to each home game with his wife Kimberly.
“This is my first catch,” Cromer joked.
The cat bounced off the Cromers’ flag before it was scooped up by a group of students who kept it from causing further havoc.
Fans showed off their pet with this video on Twitter. The cat is carried aloft like Simba from the Lion King, to the cheers of the crowd below.
The feline was finally taken away by a stadium security officer, with all of its nine lives intact.
